I am sorry to hear about the loss of Ms Kinkade. I literally randomly stumbled accross the TO homepage which I haven't looked at or thought about in some time, and learned of her passing.
In the early 90's I dated her granddaughter Lee Ann in college and was privleged to have been permitted to spend some time with her at Twin Oaks. Kat struck me as a remarkable, inspirational woman and made me feel welcome there. During that time I read her book, and greatly enjoyed immersing myself in the community, accompanied by the unique perspective of being with someone who grew up there. For a far too short period of time, I thought of her as my grandmother-in-law-to-be, and though that did not come to pass and I have a wife and child and reasonably comfortable, slightly (but not entirely) more mainstream and mundane existance; my fond memories of that experience and those youthful hopes and dreams remain.
My heart goes out to Josie and Lee Ann, and to all whose lives Kat had touched.
